An Operating System is the basic software which manages a PC. It handles how the hardware functions, the communication with peripherals including a monitor, a printer or a keyboard, the allocation of memory between apps, as well as the prioritization of apps if multiple ones run at the same time. Each program that is installed on a computer system functions by sending requests to the OS for various services using an application program interface (API). The communication with the OS can be performed through a Graphical User Interface (GUI) or a command line. In the Internet hosting field, the Operating System is what controls a server together with all the software installed on it, which includes not only website scripts, but, in addition every other application such as a VOIP or a game server. In case there are virtual machines created, they employ a guest OS that is run on the server host OS.
Multiple OS in VPS Web Hosting
Our virtual private server packages include three Linux releases that you could choose from for the Operating System of your new hosting server - Debian, Ubuntu and CentOS. Apart from being cost-free, the OSs are very stable and protected and the primary reason to offer you all 3 of them is to ensure that you can run every application that you would like, as different pieces of software may have different requirements with regards to the environment they work on. Each one of the three OSs is backed by a huge community of developers who have made many hundreds of software packages which you can set up and use on your VPS. In accordance with the Operating System which you choose, you will also be able to choose between 3 different Control Panels to control your website hosting content. Of course, should you decide that you need another OS, we can always reinstall the server with it. As an additional upgrade, we also provide weekly updates of the OS for maximum stability and security.
Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers Hosting
The dedicated server packages that we offer come with as many as three different Operating Systems to choose from. They are all Linux release - Ubuntu, CentOS and Debian, and not only do they have no license fees, but they are also regarded as the most stable and safe OSs. We supply three different ones for the reason that each of them is supported by a separate community. The packages which you can add on your hosting server are different and this may matter in case you want to install some piece of software with specific requirements for the hosting environment. In this light, the hosting Control Panel that you can select for the dedicated server also depends on the Operating System that you will pick. You can choose any of the three Operating Systems throughout the order process, however if needed, we can always set up the server once again with a different one upon your request. As an optional service that you can add to the package whenever you want, we can update the OS on a regular basis to keep it as secure as possible.
